Nice advice. Wet/steam carpet cleaning is way better then dry cleaning. It just depends on the professional who does the job.
After steamclean my carpet I need to re-apply the protectant IF my carpet was previously protected by Scotchguard. so… if my carpet has either Stainmaster or R2x, I do NOT need to reapply the protectant?
And does he know that “technically” stainmaster is stainprotectant only, not soil protectant? (whereas R2x is for both stain and soil. although R2x is not proven to be better than stainmaster in stain protection)
Scotch guard is wear dated. after it dries there is no need to re-apply it for 2 years ish. We recommend every 1 year.
And By the way.
some stain resistance is removed once cleaned. Every cleaning get it re-applied.
No matter WHO you use to clean it. the PH level of the water all cleaners use removes the stain resistance.
Acctally go with Chemdry with HCE..find one in your area that does Hot Carbonated Extraction..w/truckmount if possible
bla bla bla. the reason to re-soiling is becouse a soap residue left in the carpet!
idiot, not all stain protection gets removed when carpets are cleaned, also hot water will sometimes cause stains to set, not always the hotter the better.
It’s true. When you clean most carpets with topically applied stain protection, it will come out. You need it professionally reapplied.
It’s NOT the Method….It’s the MAN!!. I have 30 years experience in this industry and some of the stuff I read from many “Pros” is just plain laughable. I know it’s B.S. because I know 80 % of the IICRC instructors don’t have a friggin’ clue and they’re teaching all wrong.. I’d fire damn near all of them. And for the idiots who knock Dry and Low Moisture methods, trust me, you have No Clue either. Just becuae you don’t understand something, or don’t know how it works, doesn’t mean it don’t.
i hired a pro. stanly steamer cleaner, cost $175.OO STAIN still wont come out…$175 down the drain.
Cleaning is NOT what removes most of the stain resistance. Wear and foot traffic physically wear off the protector. If your carpet is filthy, rarely vacuumed, and needs aggressive cleaning, then the stain resistance is GONE! Think of the stain protection like it was car wax. The wax takes most of the wear, and protects the paint underneath. You have to re-apply the protective layer occasionally!
What was spilled, and how lond did you wait to blot it up?
Did you try any “stain removers” from under the kitchen sink? If so, how many?
How old is the carpet, and was the protector re-applied when it was cleaned last?
Is the spill in a high-traffic area?
These questions are all ones that are relevant, and should be asked by any cleaning professional. (the high traffic one should be obvious to spot).
If you tried everything from under the sink, then you may have permanently set the stain.
@PreludeSi91 That company trains their tech’s to do as little as possible while cleaning. It leaves less room for error. Do a google search in your town for a speciality spot removal carpet cleaner. They will be able to take it out. Also, I would ask for a guarantee. That way if they can’t get it out you shouldn’t have to pay.
@PreludeSi91 Stain are permanent. Spots can be removed. You think every mark in your carpet can come out?
